Measuring Cooperation at Scale

We understand how cooperation emerges at the level of microbes all the way up to humans interacting in small groups. But do the same mechanisms explain cooperation between larger human agglomerations, such as nation states? Quantifying cooperation mechanisms at the global scale are fundamental to our ability to maintain peace and achieving international cooperation.
